I am a sixth year Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy at Johns Hopkins University. My primary interests are in philosophy of language, Islamic philosophy and philosophy of artificial intelligence. I did my M.A. in Philosophy and B.A. in Translation and Interpreting Studies at Boğaziçi University in İstanbul, Turkey. I am originally from Havza, Samsun, a little town in northern Turkey with excellent hot springs. I have been type-1 diabetic since 2002.

I have wide-ranging interests. At the moment I have three broad active projects: (i) exploring a constructivist approach to meaning and communication; (ii) reconstructing the philosophical legacy of 9-12th century Islamic world and (iii) philosophical issues in information processing in human and AI systems. I am teaching an introductory course on this topic in Summer 2024 at JHU. My research output is here. My talks are here. My teaching materials are here.
